Trained on IL
Based on the suited rabbit logo for the adult magazine Playboy, Ilse Taurins made the prototype bunny suit with her mother in the style of a one piece swimsuit along with the tail and ears. Playboy Co-founder Hugh Hefner refined the concept by exposing more leg with a higher cut, and adding a corset to accentuate the figure of the model. The collar, cuffs and modern ear style were created later by Renee Blot.
Serving as hostesses and waitresses, the Playboy Bunny's that modeled the outfits served at various Playboy Clubs and as flight attendants. These women undergo auditions and are trained in bar tending, appearance, conduct, and posture. Each outfit was tailor made for each woman's figure, and a seamstress was kept on hand when they were working a club. Bunny Mothers serve as the Mama-san for the girls as well.
Even with the decline of Playboy as a brand, the outfit remains popular, especially in Japan, where they are simply known as Bunny Suits, and are used extensively in anime, manga, merchandise and performance outfits. In Fire Emblem Heroes, the outfits grant the power of coming Spring, allowing women to kill enemies with the power of magic Easter eggs.
