I agree. XY was a fun generation!

@Gaspatcher I think we had a thread on another model page where we found links for two of the Pokemon designers that quit. They had been with the franchise designing characters and Pokemon since gen 5 but they either quit or were fired after SwSh. SV sucks because the design team lost their main designers.

There were two designers. I think one designed Lana and Gloria and the other designed Marnie.

Luckily Iono, Nemona, and a few good Pokemon are in SV otherwise it would have been a total waste.

I think we had a golden age of Pokemon for Gen 1- 3, then another golden age with SM (Gen 7) and SwSh (Gen 8). Inbetween the golden ages BW (Gen 5) and XY (Gen 6) were great.
But personally I think DP (Gen 4) was mid* and then SV (Gen 9) is trash so I think Pokemon has a bad generation sometime. Then after bad generation the next gen is great. So HOPEFULLY gen 10 is legendary. Its the 10th generation is it should be a big deal. For the first time in a decade they didn't release a Pokemon game every year so they are actually taking time for Gen 10. The Gen 9 designs looked too western. Hopefully they hired better designers or the designers from Gen 9 got better.

*Disclaimer I like a lot of Pokemon and characters from DP (Gen 4) but its still my 2nd lowest ranked generation(SV is lowest 😜). Gardenia, Candice, and Maylene are cute but weak designs compared to Gen 3 and Gen 5.

@Gaspatcher True. Gen 2 didn't have many good waifu but I like a lot of Gen 2 Pokemon. Honeslty I'm always surprised when I try to pick my favorite waifu from a gen and I can't think of any for some gens. Like how do they make a Pokemon game with only week character designs? I rate Gen 4 pretty low on the waifu but actually Cynthia is gen 4 so thats good.

Its like the designers were sexually repressed in Gen 4 went crazy in gen 5 because has a ton of unreasonably sexy outfits. Like Hilda and Skyla are the most sexual designs in all the games, aren't they?

On the topic of going crazy, I always laugh at how Alola is basically the milf islands.

Oh that reminds me Legends Arceus had really good designs. I love Irida! So its weird that SV has bad designs. Its like the good designers made Nemona and Iono and the move to the Arceus team while the interns made the rest of SV.

Either way Pokemon gens can't be good every time so its makes sense that they have to have a bad gen every now and then.
Historically Nintendo makes huge HUGE mistakes and flops every now and then. The Wii U did horrible but the Switch dominated.
