Golden Glider, whose real name is Lisa Snart, first appeared in The Flash #250 (June 1977), created by writer Cary Bates and artist Irv Novick. She is the younger sister of Leonard Snart, better known as Captain Cold, and initially emerged as a supervillain driven by revenge following the death of her lover, Roscoe Dillon (the Top), a fellow Rogue and enemy of the Flash. A talented figure skater who performed under the alias Lisa Star, Lisa adopted the Golden Glider identity, equipping herself with specialized skates that allowed her to glide on self-generated ice paths, even through the air, along with jewel-themed gadgets for offense and hypnosis. Her early exploits focused on tormenting the Flash, often in collaboration with her protective brother and the Rogues gallery.

In pre-Flashpoint continuity, Golden Glider's criminal career escalated as she partnered with multiple individuals dubbed Chillblaine, arming them with cold guns, until one betrayed and killed her, prompting Captain Cold to avenge her death. She was temporarily resurrected as a Black Lantern during the Blackest Night event before being defeated again. The character's backstory emphasized her abusive upbringing alongside her brother, contrasting her potential for a legitimate skating career with her descent into villainy motivated by loss and family ties.

Following the New 52 reboot in 2011, Lisa Snart was reintroduced alive, having survived a coma induced by an explosion that granted the Rogues metahuman powers; she gained astral projection abilities, intangibility, flight, and ribbon-like tendrils, briefly operating as "Glider" and leading a faction of the Rogues. Subsequent stories in the Rebirth era restored elements of her classic portrayal, including her skating-themed arsenal, while maintaining her complex dynamic with Captain Cold and occasional alliances or conflicts within the Rogues, solidifying her as a recurring antagonist to the Flash family.
