The title you give them, is it something official or is it a cool thing you came around with? I know Dawn is a Coordinator, but for the other Pokegirls (mainly from the game)
Seems to depend. Nessa is "The raging wave!" on Bulbapedia and Gardenia is "Master of Vivid Plant Pokémon". But some of the others don't have a title on Bulbapedia. I really like titles added here, very fitting.

GreenMario is exactly correct about my process.
I try to use official titles (which are documented on Bulbapedia) but if there isn't one then I try to come up with a title that matches the character.
Gardenia's official title is "Master of Vivid Plant Pokémon" so I tweaked it. Marnie has no title at all so I named her something related to her Dark Pokemon-type: "Dark Delicacy"
I also try to use alliteration (the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of words) to make the title sound better.
Sometimes I can't come up with a good name. For example, Rosa's "Naruhodo" is kind of a bad title but it made me chuckle lol
I'm posting Hilda (SD1.5) tomorrow but I have no idea what to title her so she won't have one :(

The protagonists are understandably harder. They don't really have anything special associated with them (unless they have been in the anime). Well, they have all kinda been in the manga (with different names), but I'm sure it is way less popular than the anime.
@greenmario Yeah exactly they are designed to be generic.
Hilda is "White" in some content but that also doesn't help much. I can't just call her "Hilda: White Girl" ROFL
Hmmm well actually Black and White are "Monochrome" so maybe "Monochrome Master" "Majestic Monochrome"
These feel like better titles for a gym leader not a cute/spunky protagonist.
