Faith spent years wishing she took up less space. Tall, broad-hipped and powerfully built through the legs, she grew up convinced her proportions were something she needed to fix.

So she joined a gym.

That plan backfired beautifully.

Squats made her thighs stronger, deadlifts emphasized the curves she had been trying to minimize, and somewhere between meticulous workout logs and progressively heavier weights, Faith stopped exercising to change her body and started exercising because she liked what it could do.

These days she's an accountant by day and enthusiastic lifter by night: methodical, warm, slightly awkward, and much more confident in her unusual figure than she used to be. She's still prone to replaying conversations in her head three hours later, but she's learning that confidence doesn't require fearlessness.

Faith didn't get the body she once thought she wanted.

She got strong enough to realize she already liked the one she had.
