プリキュアシリーズ第23作目となる本作は、「探偵」をメインテーマに据えつつ、物語の主舞台が「1999年」というユニークな時代設定が特徴です。あんなは2027年1月に自室で妖精「ポチタン」に導かれ、1999年の過去へとタイムスリップ。そこで探偵を志す少女・小林みくると出会い、バディとして共に怪事件の捜査へ乗り出します。 思い立ったら一人で突っ走ってみくるに叱られるお調子者な一面を見せる一方、未来（2027年）と過去（1999年）の文化ギャップに戸惑い、この時代に知り合いが数人しかいないという孤独感に苛まれる繊細な心情描写も丁寧に描かれています。 放送局の垣根を越えた『名探偵コナン』との奇跡のコラボ回では、コナンの時計型麻酔銃で眠らされ「眠りのあんな」として推理を披露するものの、直後に敵と戦うためプリキュアへ変身せねばならず、みくるに強引に肩を揺さぶられて叩き起こされるという、コナン史を振り返っても前代未聞の珍事を巻き起こしました（本家コナンでも麻酔針の効果が切れる前に外部から物理的に揺り起こされた例はまずなく、コラボならではの伝説的な迷シーンです）。謎解き自体も本家コナンさながらの本格ミステリ仕様で、みくるが頭を抱えるほどの難度を誇りました。

ペルソナ5を彷彿とさせるスタイリッシュな変身バンクや怪盗団のビジュアル美を意識しつつ、キャスト陣に至るまで細心の差別化が図られています。さらにアンテナ付き携帯電話やブラウン管テレビといった1999年当時の空気感を自然かつスタイリッシュに表現した丁寧な世界観構築も見どころです。

Serving as the 23rd mainline entry in the Precure franchise, this series adopts an engaging "detective" theme framed within the nostalgic era of the year 1999. In January 2027, Anna is abruptly transported back to 1999 by the fairy Pochitan. Arriving in the past, she meets aspiring sleuth Mikuru Kobayashi, joining hands to investigate enigmatic occurrences as a dynamic detective duo. While she often leaps into danger headfirst—earning reprimands from Mikuru—the narrative delicately explores her inner isolation, navigating the technological dissonance between 2027 and 1999 with only a handful of allies who truly understand her situation. In a groundbreaking cross-network crossover with Detective Conan, Anna is shot with Conan's stun-gun wristwatch, solving a case as "Sleeping Anna." However, needing to transform into a Precure immediately for battle, she is violently shaken awake by Mikuru before the anesthetic naturally wears off—making her arguably the only individual across the entire Conan franchise to be forcefully jolted awake from a tranquilizer dart before an incident is resolved. The mystery deduction in this special episode was remarkably complex, rivaling authentic Conan cases to the point of leaving Mikuru utterly baffled.

Channeling a sleek visual polish reminiscent of Persona 5 in its phantom-thief themes and chic transformation bank sequences, the work meticulously preserves distinct character identities while vividly capturing the 1999 zeitgeist with CRT monitors and extendable-antenna cellphones.
