Vazh is a female Muppet character created by Jim Henson for The Land of Gorch, a series of recurring sketches that appeared during the first season of Saturday Night Live in 1975–76. Set on a swampy alien world, The Land of Gorch was Henson's early attempt to bring puppetry into adult-oriented television by incorporating satire, dysfunctional relationships, and more mature humor than audiences associated with Sesame Street. Vazh was the glamorous, flirtatious attendant of the royal court and quickly became one of the most visually distinctive characters in the series, known for her long pale hair, dramatic eye makeup, oversized lips, jewelry, and expressive puppet design.
Her coloring is inconsistent, whether it's due to lighting, picture quality, or deterioration, with her fur color ranging from pink to light green to dark green. A new replica was made for the SNL biopic "Saturday Night" with pink skin.
