I'm not really a fan of BMWs. These cars have the worst possible reputation because of—let's just say—the peculiarities of some of their young owners' mental development (the older and cheaper the BMW, and the younger the owner, the more unpredictable and dangerous it is). But that's not the automaker's fault, and it doesn't mean I don't like some of their legendary models. And BMW 6 E24 - most probably my favorite.

The 1989 BMW 635 CSi Highline is a luxurious Grand Touring coupe from the legendary BMW E24 6 Series. The Highline specification represented the ultimate evolution of the model, combining a powerful inline-six engine with an exceptionally luxurious interior and refined high-speed performance. It remains one of the most iconic BMW grand tourers of the 1980s.

    Key specifications:

    • Production (Highline): 1987–1989

    • Engine: 3.4-liter (3,430 cc) BMW M30B35 inline-6

    • Power: 220 hp

    • Torque: 315 Nm (232 lb-ft)

    • Drivetrain: Rear-wheel drive (RWD)

    • Transmission: 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic

    • 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph): approximately 6.8 seconds

    • Top speed: around 230 km/h (143 mph)

    • Weight: approximately 1,500 kg (3,300 lb)

Interesting fact: The Highline earned its name from its lavish interior, featuring hand-finished leather covering not only the seats and door panels but also the dashboard and center console. As the final evolution of BMW's famous "Sharknose" design era, the E24 635 CSi Highline is widely regarded as one of the most elegant and collectible classic BMW grand tourers ever produced.
