Lol I've seen tons of anime (mostly unpopular anime I guess) but there are a lot of well known things that I haven't seen. For example, I only just watched Sono Bisque Doll last month.
@CitronLegacy I know a lot of niche anime as well. There are many hidden gems out there.
But Hellsing is simply a classic. You def need to watch the OVAs, although the original anime isn't bad as well. It just doesn't follow the manga at a certain point because Hirano took ages to finish the manga. XD

I did not know that Alucard's Japanese voice has the absolute most epic male voice in existence. When I first heard him talk I was like "Wait is this real?! Surely this isn't his voice all the time??????" But then it was!!
I have a lot of favorite female voice actors but I'm extremely satisfied to find my favorite male voice actor. (I guess technically I've already heard this voice actor because he is also Kirei Kotomine, but Kirei is annoying there was never a chance to enjoy the voice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
ALSO this anime is hype! Its nice to watch an anime that is unabashedly epic instead of a parody of epic. Plus, the anime has an "old anime" vibe which is fun.
I'm only on episode 4 (don't give me spoilers!) so I dont know what will happen but Its a fun idea that Alucard is training Seras how to be a proper vampire. I'd love to see crossover parodies where various people are being trained to be a "Lord of the Night" (I think that's what they called it?) Like a cute character like Klee would make for a great murderous vampire maniac.
Or alternatively there are lots of cool characters that would make for epic vampire hunters.
On a different topic: I've been thinking of a "evil eye magic" that is exactly like when Alucard first unleashed his seal(?) and was "mind-bending-reality eyes everywhere" so I'm also really glad that I found the source of my inspiration. I knew I didnt come up with the idea but I never new the source. For example https://civitai.com/posts/22799795 Now that I know a prime example I can correctly remake my goal.

@CitronLegacy Haha, I'm glad you enjoy it so far. I told you Hellsing is a classic. Do you watch the OVAs or the anime right now? :3 The anime is indeed old and gives good "classic anime" vibes, because well...it is an old anime classic. XD OVAs are also old, but don' have much of that vibe.
Also dw, I won't spoiler you. If you watch the OVAs (which follow the manga very close) I just will say the ending is a bit rushed and Hirano is an edge lord, so there are also plot holes. He admitted in some interviews he included ideas he had while he drew it. So Hellsing is not perfect in that regard, but it's still fucking cool. And now you begin to understand why I'm such a huge fan of it. XD Also Alucard's voice is peak! You should also check out his english dub and the german one. They are also really great. There are also other great Seiyuu like the one of Pip. Hirata Hiroaki also voiced Sanji and many other characters I like. XD And you are on a wild ride regarding Alucard's voice in the last two OVAs. No spoilers, but you will know what I mean when you see it. 🤣 And yes, that choice was a wish from Hirano himself.

(Also it's low-key funny you never knew where this was coming from and now discovered it. XD Alucard influenced a lot of shit. He is def one of the most iconic vampires in pop culture.)

I think going for something over the top even if its not perfect is a good strategy. Better than having something boring and generic!

Its interesting how vampires seem so common but yet there are not that many good vampires. Or there are not that many iconic or well-known vampires. Like Morrigan and Alucard are still iconic and barely any new vampires compare with them. Flandre doesn't compare despite her theme song being so well known. Dio is iconic but do people think of him as a vampire? Kiss-shot is a great vampire but I don't know if I'd call her well-known?
Where is the great vampire lore? I have some vampires I love but I know they aren't popular. How is that there is so much vampire content but its all so weak???? (Especially in Western media D:)
