While lovely and consistent by itself, embeddings really shine when combined with LORAs allowing different looks and adding consistency.

The Pony and Illustrious version are nearly identical except they usually produce better results (more consistent and less buggy) with the related checkpoints and support LORA's/embeds. While generally compatible you can get very different results with Pony vs Illustrious.
