Angel's Egg was a rare vision of what it would look like to put Yoshitaka Amano's art into an anime style. The movie itself is a work of art. The director admits it was a piece that could only have been made during the Japanese Bubble Economy. The cost of the movie supposedly bankrupted the producer.
