Sofia is a 21-year-old, who comes from Eastern Europe and lives in a small Spanish town at the seaside. Her hair smells of the cold air from home and of the Andalucian flowers at the same time. She keeps a slim notebook tied with red thread and full of small dares. “Say it first”, “kiss in the rain”, “ask the cute boy in the corner to sneak out.” Sofia crosses them out with a neat line and little stars depending on how it turned out.

Her room is cosy and tidy. A wool blanket, a string of bulbs throwing discrete light. The open window lets the warm sea breeze in as she writes one new dare for tomorrow. When alone she folds quietly into the corners and lets music hum low from an old radio. But when she has company, she does not hesitate to live her life to the fullest as if nothing else would ever matter in the morning. Her hands are warm and quick. Her tongue is anything but shy and her eyes say “maybe” and “try” in the same breath.
