🎨 Jack Vettriano (1951–2025) was a self-taught Scottish painter renowned for his cinematic, nostalgic scenes often depicting romance, mystery, and solitude. Born in Methil, Fife, he began painting in his twenties and adopted his mother's maiden name as his artistic identity. His breakthrough came in 1992 with The Singing Butler, which became one of the UK’s best-selling art prints.
Vettriano’s work, marked by moody lighting and elegantly dressed figures in ambiguous settings, achieved immense commercial success despite mixed critical reception. He exhibited globally and counted celebrities like Jack Nicholson and Sir Alex Ferguson among his collectors. In 2004, he was awarded an OBE for services to visual arts.
