In the alleys and sewers of New Beluroc, deep gnome scavengers claw out their lives one crust of bread and rusted coin at a time. They are muggers and pickpockets dressed in rags, covered in filth, and smelling like the backside of a swellspore beast. They aren’t welcome in polite company—or impolite company, for that matter.

But Craniax the Quick saw them for what they were: opportunistic, unscrupulous, and invisible to the powerful. While other mages wasted coin on venal guards and talentless apprentices, Craniax paid the gnomes in food, warmth, and the occasional corpse to strip of valuables.

They became his eyes and ears in the streets. They got him information he used to blackmail and betray. And when that failed, they were his knives in his rivals’ backs.

Now, as Craniax leads his undead legions across the Shimmering Coasts, his deep gnome minions trail behind. They strip the dead, loot ruins, and root through the rubble for anything that might point to the secret of Praetoria. And if the rumors are true—if the mage wagons are coming—the deep gnomes will make sure they don’t get far.
