Awesome! Can never have too much Bravely Default.
If you haven't played it, BD is such a great game. It's all the best parts of the old Final Fantasy games — before they implemented ATB, so it's truly turn-based — with a huge focus on jobs (2 dozen of them—plus all new ones in each of the two follow-up games), and a twist. You can take multiple actions in one turn (being Brave). As many as 4. Very useful for finishing off a boss before their big attack comes. But... if you take multiple actions one turn, you can't do anything again until you've "paid them back" in a manner of speaking. You can also save them up ahead of time by passing (going Default)
And the game stories (there are 3 games in the series) is very much like old FF, with a focus on the crystals being corrupted and all that. And they can get kinda meta. But not too meta. I love them. They're probably my favorite FF-like games ever. And, probably.... maybe even more than the original FF games. (Though I do really, really love the DS version of FF3, with Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ingus. That was my first FF, and it'll always be special to me.)
I did play it ONCE but it was difficult for me because old RPGs are difficult for some odd reason, i've played FF6/FF3 and haven't beaten it XD and got into Secret of Mana but stuck like 1/3 of the way in
@duskfallcrew FF6/FF3 is a different FF3. Without looking it up, I'll just say it's confusing because, like they always did back in those days, they had to give something a different name in English and couldn't just use the Japanese name. The one I'm talking about, with Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ingus, was actually a sequel to Four Warriors of Light, I think. It was related to it in some way at least.
But maybe you just haven't played the right old turn-based RPGs. Some of them (for instance, the Shin Megami Tensei series) can be quite difficult, even brutal, at times. Others, not so much. I don't like difficult games—or challenges in general, lol—so I don't do well with hard games. Or did you mean difficult in some other way? Like, I have difficulty with a lot of action RPGs because I'm a button masher, have always been a button masher, and will always be a button masher. I finished Tales of Graces on auto, okay? lol Even an action RPG with an easy difficulty level is probably going to seem hard to me because of that. I panic, and I can't think, and I just start reacting without even realizing what I'm doing. So turn-based RPGs and tactical RPGs are great for me. I've gotta study and plan my moves.
But yeah, anyone who likes classic RPGs who hasn't tried the BD series really needs to do so. It's the closest to FF3 (the one I like) that I've ever played. Very similar, gathering your party in the beginning, learning jobs, traveling across the world to save it from the crystals that are going out of control... I love it.
And I love that Octopus Traveler. 😁

@duskfallcrew Well, now that I think about it... Octopath would be pronounced in Japanese as "Okutopasu". And octopus would be pronounced as "okutopasu". And it is a Japanese game, so I suppose that Octopus Traveler could actually be its name. Maybe when it was translated for English, they just decided that they should add a pun to it or something.
@dita OH GOD I may have sadi it wrong i dunno XD I lose tsrack on the ADJACENT FF games, I Think Bravely default is semi related to Vagrant Traveller or whatever it's.. VAGRANT STORY -- which is the Ivalice storyline realted to FF12, and FF11. Which is also LARGELY the POST SHB Trials, Raids and stuff -- for FFXIV.
