Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890–1969) was the 34th President of the United States, serving from 1953 to 1961. Before his presidency, he was a five-star general and Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces during World War II, famously leading the D-Day invasion of Normandy. As president, Eisenhower emphasized peace, economic prosperity, and infrastructure development, notably launching the Interstate Highway System. He also navigated Cold War tensions, advocating a policy of containment towards communism.
