The M4 Sherman was equipped with two types of guns, a short-barreled 75mm gun and a long-barreled 76mm gun, but it seems that initially the short-barreled 75mm gun was more common.

Even so, it had a military advantage in North Africa and Italy, but that wouldn't be the case in the European Round, where Tigers and Panthers were waiting.

Around the time of the Normandy landings, the proportion of long-barreled 76mm guns increased.

This is a later model in the Sherman series, which began to be deployed around August 1944.

Among the tanks derived from the M4A3 are famous models such as the M4A3E2 "Jumbo" and the M4A3E8 "Easy Eight" which was used in the movie "Fury."

Its high reliability and mobility supported the furious advance of General Patton's US Third Army.

M4シャーマンは短砲身75mm砲と長砲身76mm砲の二種類が配備されていましたが、当初は短砲身75mm砲搭載の方が多かった模様です。

ノルマンディー上陸の頃から長砲身76mmの比率が高くなっていきます。

（一方そのころソ連では、「T34/76じゃ力不足だ、T34/85にするべ」→「これでも足りねぇ、IS作るべ」ですから、もう全く様相が違います。

1944年8月頃から配備され始めた、シャーマン・シリーズの中では後期モデルにあたります。

このM4A3から派生した戦車の中にはM4A3E2「ジャンボ」、映画「Fury]でも使われたM4A3E8「イージーエイト」といった有名なモデルが存在します。
