Countess Sinash is a Splinterlands character.
Splinterlands is an NFT TCG based in a world of Praetoria which was created more than 5 years ago.
Lore:
Sinash was born a noble of house Beliathorn. Her mother, the countess, was brought up used to the lifestyle and was bitten by a vampire in her 30s. Her father had not a penny to his name but married into the family through charisma and charm. He was never turned into a vampire but Sinash always suspected something odd about him. A man who started with nothing wound up incredibly wealthy. It's rare to see a commoner work their way to fit in with the rich but he somehow pulled it off.
Sinash's parents owned the grand Beliathorn Manor where they had numerous servants to tend to them and their gardens. The family often attended lavish parties and gatherings with other noble houses and rarely stayed in their home. Though, every now and again, her parents would invite a large gathering of people over for a secret ceremony. It wasn't until she was older that Sinash would learn what the secret was.
There are two moments in Sinash's life that she recalls often. The first was on her 25th birthday when she became a vampire at one of her family's celebrations. It was a moment she willingly participated in. The second was when she uncovered her family's hidden ceremony: a ritual to summon demons. Her house and others aligned themselves with demons to spread their influence and grow their wealth. While spying on the ceremony, she learned her father was a demon from Mortis who made deals with just about every creature in the Splinterlands to get his way.
Sinash was shocked to learn the truth of her father and realized she must have demonic blood in her. She loved the power granted to her as a vampire, but she wanted to unlock her demonic side and gain its power. She wanted what the demons could give her so she started researching and studying demons herself.
A dagger through the heart. An arrow in the neck. Tossed in a volcano. Moments Countess Sinash remembers fondly, if only to remember the look on her attackers faces. All occasions when they expected her to die, only to see her return with a crazed look as she tore at their necks and burned them to cinders. Adventurers, heroes, and vampire slayers have all tried to end her life but found it difficult to kill what was already dead. Sinash was a vampire, that was abundantly clear, but she was also so much more.
Her thoughts drifted back to the Ignited Sphere ceremony. The ritual where the Ignitus—an order of vampires descended from demons—created more of their kind and half-breeds. Sinash saw herself surrounded by the bodies of her family and the royal court. Her regal gown was covered in blood and dirt, and counts and countesses lay burned and scarred on the ground at her feet. Sinash paid the bodies no mind as she stared into the center of the circular room where an orb of roiling fire twisted and turned. She had a playful, crazed smile upon her face that revealed fanged teeth dripping with blood. Ash fell upon her brunette hair and pale skin like fresh snow. She felt a white hot burn within her, and the faded color of her skin flared with an orange and red light. She flinched, expecting immense pain, but felt nothing. Not from the heat of the room nor from the loss of her family. As she remembered her past, a voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Countess…if I may.” The weasley voice of her court jester snaked its way into her ears.
Sinash opened her eyes and set them upon the man that prostrated himself before her. Behind him, the Ignited Sphere burned and twisted as it did that day she took demonic powers. “Proceed,” was all Sinash returned.
“Yes, quite…It appears there is trouble at the gates. The townsfolk, they have sent another band of would be slayers, my liege. They have broken through the outer wall and beheaded many of your royal guards.”
A smile curled across Sinash's face. “Excellent. More blood for the new recruits and more entertainment for me. Open the gates.”
“Open? Open the gates? As you command.”
The jester bowed low and backed out of the room, never turning away from the Countess. Sinash stood from her throne decorated with flames and an emblem of a mace surrounded by thorns. She strode through the grand doors out to meet these supposed heroes. As she exited Beliathorn Manor, she saw a group of five people make their way through the heavy gates that blocked the entrance to her domain. Demonic forces tossed fire from above on them. Meanwhile, her brood of hybrid vampires fought back a larger force still behind the gates.
Sinash tossed her hands to her side and cracked her neck. As she did, flames from beneath her skin burned through like magma running over cracks in rocks. Bolts of fire energy appeared in her hands and she smiled that same crazed smile again. “If they wish to die, let them all burn as one.”
Sinash exploded from where she stood and left a blazing trail of fire behind her.
