Katharine McPhee (b. 1984) is a singer and actor. She first achieved national attention by being the runner-up in the fifth season of the singing competition program American Idol. She has released five studio albums since then, but has perhaps achieved more fame as an actor, most notably playing the lead in NBC's Smash (2012-13).
