Virginia Hensley grew up in a perfectly respectable opossum household, which makes her current lifestyle entirely her own fault. Her mother keeps an immaculate home, her father copes with family drama by quietly continuing to eat, and Virginia was always the scruffy, nocturnal child with a very generous interpretation of the phrase "still good." As an adult, she can dress up nicely, hold down a job, and function perfectly well in polite society. She simply sees no compelling reason why any of those accomplishments should require her apartment floor to be visible.Nobody except her family calls her Virginia anymore. In her teens, she decided the name sounded like someone who owned matching towels and rebranded herself as Vix, a short, sharp name that stuck so well her friends aren't even sure what it’s short for. Her mother, naturally, refuses to participate and still calls her Ginny, or Virginia when circumstances turn grave. Hearing her full name called across a room still makes Vix instinctively check whether she left perishable food somewhere she shouldn't have.Visually, Vix looks considerably more dangerous than she actually is. She's a thick, powerful opossum who leans heavily into a punk-goth style, complete with dark-ringed eyes, impressive claws, an intimidating grin, and a long tail she makes zero effort to hide. Strangers often give her a wide berth on the sidewalk, entirely unaware that she’s cheerful, shamelessly goofy, and prone to dressed-like-a-monster good deeds. That said, civilization hasn't erased her instincts: she’s a born scavenger, a night owl, and when badly startled, she has an embarrassing autonomic defense response of instantly playing dead, a habit her friends take entirely too many pictures of.Underneath all the trash-possum bravado, Vix remains a devoted daughter who puts on a nice dress for her mother's birthday and endures being called Ginny with only a mild eye-roll. Her apartment may look condemned and her refrigerator might raise difficult questions about expiration dates, but she’s happy, employed, loved, and living life entirely on her own terms. She just wishes everyone would stop asking her to clean her room.
