Hi, I'm Formerly Morse, You Might Remember Me From Such Discord Debates As...

TL:DR; I've stopped posting the models I'm still making. Is that fair on the people who actually downloaded and used them?

    Probably worth explaining.

Over time, I've found that I enjoy making models considerably more than I enjoy being part of the wider community on this platform. To be completely honest, IMO, this community is toxic, simpering, abusive, and self-serving - the same names, the same views, the same biases, the same agendas, over and over; I don't want to be one of those names or an active participant in that any more.

Training, testing, fixing datasets, working out why something refuses to learn what it was explicitly shown 300 times... that's still fun. The surrounding discourse increasingly isn't.

This isn't about any one person (though I'm sure there are plenty who'll assume it is for the sake of their fragile egos), one argument, or one dramatic incident. There has simply been enough friction, negativity, and general nonsense both within the community, and with the site staff, governance, and so on and so forth, that participating publicly stopped being enjoyable or healthy.

    So I've permanently stepped away.

But that leaves the people who quietly downloaded my work, used it, made interesting things with it, left useful feedback, or just enjoyed having another model available at a disadvantage. None of you did anything wrong, and I don't particularly like the idea that you're the ones who lose access because I've decided I no longer want to engage with the social, support or staff side of the platform in any way whatsoever.

I'm still training models. Quite a lot of them, actually. I just stopped feeling any obligation to publish them.

If there's still genuine interest in the things I make, I may start posting some models again.

I'd be uploading models, safe-for-work characters or concepts, for people who want to use them, then getting on with my life. Feedback is fine, being an arsehole is not.

    So that's where things stand.

I haven't stopped creating. I've stopped wanting to be an active part of the community surrounding it.

Those are two quite different things, and perhaps I shouldn't have treated them as inseparable.
