Honest thoughts on the future of CivitAI

It's not looking good. To be honest, I feel this site began losing its way when they started pushing the auction madness. That update alone had major red flags for me. From a "Full Checkpoint Coverage" angle, it really made ZERO sense. Not only did it address the underlying issue of "Full Checkpoint Coverage", something other sites like PixAI and even TensorArt have done a far better job at solving (And TensorArt isn't even that well off, they have to throttle FLUX Users at certain times of the day to make sure their rather limited Generation Capabilities don't go down), but it seemed outright malicious - An attempt to drive a wedge in and divide the CivitAI Community. I've seen changes that seemed good on paper but ended up causing division, and this wasn't it. This seemed highly planned and malicious in nature, and it didn't take a genius to notice it. Add that to the fact that the instability and maintenance times continued to slowly increase with no real attempts to actually address them and yeah, it became fairly obvious the devs just didn't care and haven't cared for a really long time. And in all honesty, this combined with frequent TOS changes every other week and everything else, makes me less than optimistic with the future of this platform. In all honesty, unless some really big change were to happen, I wouldn't be surprised if CivitAI went bankrupt altogether before the end of the year.

Overall, I think I'll be more active on TensorArt and PixAI starting in the foreseeable future. I don't see a reason to stick around for too long on here given all the just outright terrible decision making I've seen going around this site. That being said, I will at least pop in every now and then to check out what's going on since I last uploaded here even still.
